ID and Authentication Industries Invited to Share Insights at Leading Global TEE Conference

January 2016 by Marc Jacob

GlobalPlatform is inviting speakers from the ID and authentication industries to participate in the world’s only dedicated trusted execution environment (TEE) conference, which will take place later this year. The long-standing global event will take place in Santa Clara, California on 13 October, with high-profile speakers from around the world and across a number of industries discussing the use cases and future of the technology.

The association is accepting speaker proposals from members and non-members until, Friday, 19 February 2016. Prospective speakers are invited to send a brief presentation title and synopsis, aligning with one of the below areas, to seminar-topics@globalplatform.org:
Payment and value added services (including ticketing, gifting)
Identification and authentication (including biometrics, derived credentials, BYOD, mobile identification, healthcare, physical/logical access control and enterprise services)
Internet of Things (IoT) (including healthcare, wearables, connected cars)
Premium content protection & digital rights management (across platforms including mobile, set top boxes, TVs)
TEE compliance and certification (including key learnings from all stakeholders – product and solution providers, laboratories).

The ‘GlobalPlatform Presents the TEE: Next Generation Mobile Security for Today and Tomorrow’ conference engages service and platform providers, software vendors, device manufacturers and mobile network operators. The 2016 event will showcase state-of-the-art device security and demonstrate the evolution of the threat landscape for connected devices and how the TEE addresses these challenges.

“Global interest and adoption of the TEE is growing as more use cases come to the fore and more markets recognize its benefits,” comments Kevin Gillick, Executive Director of GlobalPlatform. “A great deal of progress has been made since our last event and 2016 is shaping up to be an extremely busy year with the momentum of the compliance program and the TEE Security Certification Scheme which was launched in 2015. The event offers a unique opportunity for both new and knowledgeable TEE stakeholders to come together and discuss the value of the TEE to rapidly evolving industries, the future of the technology and how standardization can save time and money while increasing stability and interoperability. We look forward to revealing more details in the coming weeks and months.”

The TEE is a secure area of the main processor in a connected device that ensures sensitive data is stored, processed and protected in an isolated, trusted environment. The TEE’s ability to offer safe execution of authorized security software, known as ’trusted applications’, enables it to provide end-to-end security by enforcing protection, confidentiality, integrity and data access rights.
