HID OMNIKEY PC-Linked Smart Card Readers Support Windows 7

November 2009 by Emmanuelle Lamandé

HID Global announced that OMNIKEY® brand PC-linked smart card reader drivers are certified to support the newly released Microsoft® Windows® 7.

In anticipation of the new Windows software platform, HID Global product engineers began development, testing and implementation of software and products to support Windows 7 earlier this year. Based on affirmative testing results, developers provided positive feedback on ease-of-use, straightforward installation and driver stability. In April 2009, the first reader drivers were WHQL-certified for use with Windows 7, ensuring support for customers using USB-connected smart card readers.

HID Global builds compliance with standard technology platforms into its product development process, ensuring that hardware will interface with common platforms and protocols. The company is committed to increased security through long-term dedicated testing. With the well-known quality and reliability of HID OMNIKEY products, industry partners and end-users can trust HID products for business continuity and first-mover support.
