ESET Wins “Best Usability” Award From AV-TEST

February 2012 by

ESET announces it has won a “2011 Best Usability” award from the AV-TEST Institute, a leading international and independent service provider in the fields of IT security and antivirus research. ESET Smart Security 5 was awarded “Best Usability” for its low false positives and low impact on system performance.

The AV-TEST awards honour effective antivirus products offering a performance that contributes to establishing current standards in the field of IT security and makes a significant contribution toward prevention in the field of data communication. Specifically, the AV-TEST award for “Best Usability” is given to security software that has the lowest impact on the system. Products were tested for an average slowdown of the computer in daily use, amount of false positives, false warnings and false blockings of certain actions during download, installation and use of legitimate software.

"No other home user product we tested in 2011 came close to ESET Smart Security’s very high usability score," said Andreas Marx, CEO of AV-TEST.

This latest award follows a series of recent industry accolades including ESET’s 71st “VB100” award from Virus Bulletin. ESET NOD32 Antivirus holds the world record for VB100 Award wins among all security solution vendors and currently has 50 consecutive wins. ESET also has a “2011 Top Rated Product” recognition, a ranking of “Best Overall Speed 2011” and six straight “Advanced+” awards in performance testing from AV-Comparatives.

“We are pleased to be recognized by AV-TEST for our product usability,” said Richard Marko, CEO of ESET. “Creating a product with superior protection and light footprint has always been our goal at ESET and this award further emphasizes our commitment.”
