With a share of 8.95%, INF/Autorun has maintained its leader position among computer threats in France. The most prevalent threat of the month of March attacks removable media. By modifying the content of the autorun.inf instruction file, it provides automatic execution of malware upon insertion of the infected media into the system. The results are based on the ThreatSense.Net® in-the-cloud statistical system collecting data submitted by users of ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus from all over the world.

The second position was taken by a Trojan dubbed Win32/PSW.OnlineGames. As its name suggests, Win32/PSW.OnlineGames attacks users of online role-play gamers, by stealing login information. Win32/Mabezat placed third, accounting for 4.02% of all malware detected in the country, followed by Win32/Conficker (2.76%). Finally, the fifth position is occupied by a class of threats titled Win32/Agent. It covers a broad range of internet-borne malware falling into the category of sensitive data stealer. In March, Win32/Agent has been linked to 2.25% of all malware detections.

Analysis of ESET’s ThreatSense.Net® shows that the highest number of detections this month, with almost 10.32% of the total, was scored by the Win32/Conficker class of threat.
