China Telecom Selects Arbor Networks Peakflow SP

Arbor Networks, a provider of network security and operational performance for global business networks, announced today that China Telecom has selected the Arbor Peakflow SP (“Peakflow SP”) platform to protect their network against a wide range of security threats, such as distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, botnets and worms, and address network issues, such as traffic engineering and routing instability.
"The security and operational performance of our network is the foundation for everything we do at China Telecom. We selected Arbor Networks because of their proven ability to provide network-wide visibility and security combined with traffic engineering and capacity planning which allows us to proactively plan for network growth, evaluate peering relationships and reduce transit costs," said Mr. Zhang Qiang, director of the data division, O&M department, China Telecom.
China Telecom is the leading provider of wireline telecommunications services in China, providing voice, data, image, multimedia and telecommunications and information services in 30 municipalities, provinces and autonomous regions in China with a subscriber base exceeding 200 million.
"Arbor’s experience working with more than 70% of the world’s service providers is a tremendous advantage for us, as customers do not want to take any chances when it comes to the security or performance of their networks. As a relatively new entry in the China market, we are hopeful that the network security and bottom line business benefits that we can deliver will be attractive to China’s Internet service providers," said Frank Lee, vice president of Asia Pacific markets for Arbor Networks.
Peakflow SP helps China Telecom understand and visualize threats on their network, whether they stem from an attack, misconfiguration or the longer-term impact of changes in network utilization. China Telecom can quickly determine the root cause of changes, which may be the result of new applications, customers and/or violations in usage policy. Peakflow SP enables China Telecom to better evaluate peering relationships and optimize transit speed.
Arbor Networks currently generates 40% of its revenue from international markets, much of it through strategic partner relationships. In China, Arbor has established reseller relationships with Beijing Raisecom Science, Universal Business Intelligence and Beijing Testor Technology Ltd.
